The Osprey Map provides a term-by-term sample schedule for each undergraduate academic program at the University of North Florida. It is designed to guide students in the selection of courses each term. The "Mile Marker" courses in the right-hand column are those courses that should be completed before or by the end of that term. Following the sample schedule, and completing the mile marker courses at the appropriate point of your undergraduate career, will facilitate graduation in four years. The term-by-term model assumes full-time enrollment. For students enrolled part-time, the sample schedule and mile markers should be followed based on the number of credits completed. The Osprey Map should be used in consultation with an academic advisor.

The Nursing curriculum provides a strong scientific base of study with a diversity of clinical experiences and unique opportunities to work with vulnerable and underserved populations. Click on the Students tab of the Career Services webpage for major exploration and employment information.

Students should refer to their personalized Degree Evaluation provided by an academic advisor and to other university resources for additional university and college-specific policies and procedures. Visit the undergraduate university catalog for more information.

Summer terms may be utilized to facilitate graduation in four years.
  • Visit the university catalog for a list of General Education requirements. An Associate in Arts (AA) degree from a Florida public university, state college or community college satisfies UNF general education and Gordon Rule requirements. General Education Math selection for First Time in College (FTIC) students is contingent upon Math Placement exam results, SAT/ACT math scores, the student’s major and/or credit received through accelerated mechanisms (Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment, etc). Potential Nursing students will satisfy the three of the six semester hours of General Education Mathematics, three of the six semester hours of Social Science, and six semester hours of Natural Science with required Program Prerequisites. Students should complete MAC1105 College Algebra to satisfy three semester hours of General Education Math in preparation for CHM2045/2045L General Chemistry I with Lab.

  • All freshmen and sophomores (students with 0-59 credit hours) should consult their academic advisor in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) or the UNF Honors Program.

  • Visit the Regular Prelicensure Nursing webpage for a complete list of prerequisites and other important information. Effective for 2012 and all future admissions until further change, applicants will be required to have at least 5 of the 8 prerequisites completed at the time of the application deadline, and of these courses at least 3 must be science prerequisites (i.e. Microbiology, A&P I, A&P II, Chemistry in any combination). Applicants will still be responsible for successfully completing deficient prerequisites with a C or better before enrollment in the nursing curriculum.

  • Nursing is a limited access program, typically admitting 45 students in summer term, and 45 students in fall term of the junior year. Program admission requires a decision by a college administrator or faculty member. Students are not guaranteed admission into this program, and can not degree progress into Term 5 (61-75 hours) until admitted into this program. Find specific admission criteria for this program on your Degree Evaluation, college website, university catalog or consult your academic advisor.

  • Students must earn additional Free Elective credit if needed to meet 60 semester hours required for junior level status and to satisfy the university minimum 120 total semester hours (minimum of 48 upper level hours 3000/4000 level) for graduation. The BSN requires 124 hours. Students must complete at least 25 percent of the required degree credit hours in residence at UNF.
