College: Brooks College of Health
Degree: Bachelor of Science
Major: Nutrition & Dietetics
Effective Term: Fall 2011
The Osprey Map provides a term-by-term sample schedule for each undergraduate academic program at the University of North Florida. It is designed to guide students in the selection of courses each term. The "Mile Marker" courses in the right-hand column are those courses that should be completed before or by the end of that term. Following the sample schedule, and completing the mile marker courses at the appropriate point of your undergraduate career, will facilitate graduation in four years. The term-by-term model assumes full-time enrollment. For students enrolled part-time, the sample schedule and mile markers should be followed based on the number of credits completed. The Osprey Map should be used in consultation with an academic advisor.

The Nutrition and Dietetics major is appropriate for individuals who seek professional preparation in the field of nutrition, and will provide students with a high quality didactic educational experience. Successful graduates may work as entry-level nutrition educators or are eligible to apply to CADE accredited internships through a computer matching system, to prepare them for successful completion of the ADA Registration Exam and to ultimately become Registered Dietitians. Click on the Students tab of the Career Services webpage for major exploration and employment information.

Students should refer to their personalized Degree Evaluation provided by an academic advisor and to other university resources for additional university and college-specific policies and procedures. Visit the undergraduate university catalog for more information.

Summer terms may be utilized to facilitate graduation in four years.
  • Visit the university catalog for a list of General Education. An Associate in Arts (AA) degree from a Florida public university, state college or community college satisfies UNF general education and Gordon Rule requirements. General Education Math selection for First Time in College (FTIC) students is contingent upon Math Placement exam results, SAT/ACT math scores, the student’s major and/or credit received through accelerated mechanisms (Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment, etc). Visit the Nutrition and Dietetics webpage for a complete list of Nutrition prerequisites. Nutrition students will satisfy the six semester hours of General Education Mathematics, three of the six semester hours of Social Science, and six semester hours of Natural Science with required Program Prerequisites.

  • All freshmen and sophomores (students with 0-59 credit hours) should consult their academic advisor in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) or the UNF Honors Program.

  • To avoid delaying graduation, courses in Term 5 - Term 8 should be completed in the terms indicated. Upper Level (3000/4000 level) Nutrition courses (HUN, DIE, FSS, FOS prefixes) must be completed in the fall and spring terms. Although not all upper level Nutrition courses are mile markers, these courses are offered once per year.

  • Students must earn additional Free Elective credit if needed to satisfy the university minimum 120 total semester hours for graduation.

  • For more information contact the Undergraduate Nutrition and Dietetics Program Director, or the Brooks College of Health Advising Office.
